A nut shell

We still have a few days here in Taiwan but I wanted to share a little bit of our trip so far. I forgot to pack the cable to connect the camera to the computer so we'll upload a few photo dumps later.

Today was the third best day of our trip. Third, as in we've (IMO) had three amazing days and today so far has been the third. We arrived in the southern city of Kaohsiung yesterday and got all checked into our hotel. Paul has been great at grabbing local tourist pamphlets everywhere we went and he found some in the hotel lobby. We got up to our room, settled, and started to plan our daily activities when what do Paul's amazing pamphlet finding eyes discover? A STAR TREK EXHIBIT! That's right! If you weren't aware Paul and I are "Trekkies" and in the Art district of Kaohsiung there was a Star Trek exhibit going on until January or so. MUST SEE! It was so amazing to totally geek out for a bit. We bought a few t-shirts and other swag; we even got a picture made. After the exhibit we ate at a killer restaurant then later I think we are going on an all terrain vehicle tour of the city. Kaohsiung is a port city so think of it as Seattle's Duck Boat tour. Except our vehicles are re-purposed all terrain crafts used during WW2.

The first best day was in Taipei at the art Museum, not only was the local artist's exhibit totally amazing but the day we went was also the first day of a Monet exhibit!

The second best day was walking around the national park of Alishan Mountain. Seeing 1500 year old Taiwan Red Cypress trees was pretty damn special.
