Ready to Leave

I've been trying, really trying to enjoy what time we have left here on this teeny island known as Okinawa but since I am in a bit of a bad mood, I feel the need to complain. So buckle down and bear with me folks. For your's and my entertainment I have complied my complaints in an orderly fashion.

I. Reason's why I am ready to leave Okinawa
      a. Counter tops, cabinets, bathrooms, cars, clothes, and furniture built for the adult with an average height of 5'2".
      b. CRAZY drivers that park illegally, pass in the median, stop for no reason, have no concept of "right of way", turn before the car in front of them while waiting in the turning lane, motorcycle and moped drivers that zig-zag through traffic and pass you at a red light, drivers that stop abruptly and turn on their blinker immediately before turning while taking an eternity to make their turn, and extremely small roads where only the smallest of cars will make it down unscratched.
       c. seasons consisting of coolish, hot, wet, and scorching.

...OK so I guess that's all I have at the moment. When I first sat down to make my list I swear my head was filled with a lot more. I guess you could always stay tuned, I'll update my list when more reasons come back to me. In the mean time, to play a card from the opposite hand I'll start building a list of "Reason's I've enjoyed living in Okinawa." I know you're at the edge of your seat so just stay tuned.

Happenings

I have found my new drug. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday...wait let me back up a little bit. Okinawan women are beautiful. I mean some if not most of them strikingly beautiful and they all seem to possess this perpetual 18 year old body until they reach the age of Menopause. Even after having a baby their bodies will immediately if not sooner snap back into their small, slender, cellulite free bodies. It's quite sickening and makes me wish I had skinny jeans, genetically speaking that is. Let's just say even if you did not have a poor body image prior to living here it's almost inevitable that you will have one by the time you leave. Paul and I have been working on getting back in shape. We're doing pretty well, both of us are down about 20lbs each. The base where Terra's day care is located has a gym. After dropping Terra off at class just in time for breakfast, I headed over to take a look. I found the Cardio room and hoped on a treadmill. After about 30mins I was wiped out, I was quite pleased because in case you weren't aware I am NOT a runner. Since I reached the minimum 30mins of cardio I headed to an aerobic room for some stretching, cool down, and an ab work. After that I found my way into the Women's locker room, showered and then looked over my left shoulder and what do my wondering eyes spot? A sauna! OMG YES! Still wrapped in my towel I headed inside. It was so great. It has been about 2.5 years since my last venture into a sauna. So my new drug is 30mins killing myself on a treadmill then rewarding myself laying in a dim 180+ degree wooden sanctuary. Just laying there with my thoughts as the heat and humidity consume me, expelling any poisons that are infecting my humors. It is so wonderful and for a few hours afterwards I have this overwhelming feeling of happiness. I try to hold on to that feeling as long as I can unfortunately it never lasts all day. Maybe all I need is a little more training. Addiction continues for another week.
