Monster Mash

Terra had a Pre-Halloween event at her school which was a lot of fun. Sort of a small carnival atmosphere. Hilariously/frustratingly she didn't want to go as a pirate, but as Supergirl. Which was a bummer because the only costumes that Mary and I had were Pirates. I used the parts of Mary's costume she wasn't using, and with a white shirt and some face paint I became Captain Lowrent!

Arrrrgh! Me tights are fancy!

Gettin' some tickets.

I had a few pictures of Terra swinging that mallet, this one is pretty great.

Bean bag tossing with a lollypop like it aint no thang.

Way too many kids in this bouncy thing. Terra got smooshed at one point and was getting upset. She got out though and survived just fine.

Splatter ball was cool. I told her to wing it as hard as she could to see if it would pop. Alas, no luck.

Technically Mary is on faculty at the school, so she was able to be sent to the Jail where the teachers go. Haha, I had to bail her out.

Box full of gross things you had to identify by feel. Gooey banana is a great idea till you realize there is no place near by to wipe your hands.

They had a lazer tag sort of thing that Terra played. Girl had fun but zero tactical moves, just run and gun the whole time, haha!

Halloween Fun

Happy Halloween!

My favorite holiday has come and gone. We had a great time this year. I was able to decorate again, I missed last year due to deployment. The last time we went with a spider theme and it was fun, but this year I wanted to go with a monster house theme, which was surprisingly a lot more work than I thought it would be. But I really think it turned out great, I saw lots of people taking pictures of the house and there were more than a few kids who were spooked out and one dropped his whole bucket and ran. I was able to go out and calm him down of course, but I think next year if I get the chance to decorate I should have a less spooky option for smaller kids to avoid it if they want.

Had a black light on this part and tossed glowing detergent on it to make it look like monster splatter.

Strobe light was behind the teeth, which was the first thing anyone saw coming up the path.

This was my costume and I answered the door like this. Funny enough most of the little boys were spooked, but little girls were like, "Hi! I'm rainbow dash!"

Big eye in the window that twitched and looked around.

Here are the Pirate Duo, they had a good time out in the neighborhood.

Playing catch up!

Its been a while since we updated, so we have a few things to put up for this time around. Lets go in order shall we?

Terra went back to school!

I brewed some beer, nothing too special. But I did fashion a contraption to help me rinse my grain out more easily and it seem to work quite well! Not sure if I'll use it again though because a friend gave me an actual mash tun so I can be more consistent. We shall see how it works in a week or so when I try my hand at a pumpkin brew.

We completed some more work on the gardens at the fellowship, got the gravel path laid and finished digging out the fire ring expansion and put gravel and rocks in there as well. I believe I'll need to get another load of stone to actually put the wall in place. That's going to be a big job, but it will look great when we are done. Already hard to tell what it used to look like.

And we went camping up in Idyllwild at Fern Basin. It was good to be out again, I think we had a good time and got what we needed out of it. Some fresh air and some time under the stars. We left a day early though, the campsites were in fire restriction so we couldn't make a fire. The other issue was a massive amount of bugs. Just hordes of small flies that swarmed us almost everywhere we went. It made anything difficult, I kept thinking a good fire would keep them away. We still enjoyed it, next trip is up to Yosemite some way or another.
Idyllwild was a good little visit though, got a great meal at a place called the Gastrognome, haha, had to stop there. I'm a big gnome fan.

Terra is 7!

Greetings!
It's been a while since we have updated, busy busy times. Had to do an unexpected move, and now are fighting for our security deposit back. Feels hard to get everything in order, but we are making it.

Thankfully we had Terra's party to plan for! The girl wanted a zombie themed party, so we went as big as we could. I made a paper mache pinata for the kids and printed off a big zombie to do "Feed the Brain to the Zombie" which was fun! And a shooting range (with nerf guns) with zombies to shoot at. That was a big hit too, I think that the kids all had fun.
Lots of our friends came, and our neighbors from the old house. It was really great to see them again and spend some time since we ended up having to move out so quickly. I hope that we get to do something like that again.
After the party was done, we brought out some corn hole boards and had some good times. I apparently had such a good time that I passed out earlier than Terra did. Dang that Sailor Jerry. Didn't improve my aim at all.

Zombie Makeup time!

Brains!

Pin the Brain on the Zombie

Used a round sponge for them to smoosh it on.

The girls had a good time.

That pinata took a beating, I was pretty proud of my handiwork.

All those delicious candy innards.

Mary made such a cool cake, strawberry with oreo crumbles, gummy worms, and chocolate tomb stones.

Yum.

Present time was fun!

That picture is going up in my room, I don't care what anyone says.

Happy Birthday kiddo!
